The ninth annual Egypt Automotive Summit is set to take place under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, and the Ministry of Finance. This landmark event will bring together prominent industrial leaders, automotive experts, and government representatives.
Scheduled for November 26, 2024, at the Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski in Cairo, the summit will also host representatives from embassies interested in Egypt's automotive sector, the Chamber of Engineering Industries, and the Export Council, establishing itself as a strategic platform for shaping the future of the automotive industry in Egypt.
With the theme "2025: A Year of Transformation," this year’s summit builds on the success of previous editions, which saw the launch of the National Strategy for Localizing Automotive Manufacturing. The event will focus on transitioning the local market from reliance on imports to local assembly, increasing the percentage of local components in production, and targeting African markets through the Free Trade Agreement.
As part of the shift toward sustainable energy vehicles, the summit will explore mechanisms for transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy solutions. It will also emphasize the pivotal role of feeder industries in supporting local production and expanding exports.
Mohamed Abou El Fotouh, CEO of the Egypt Automotive Summit, underscored the importance of this event, stating:
"This year's summit marks a turning point for Egypt's automotive industry, highlighting significant opportunities for localizing manufacturing and boosting exports. It offers a clear vision for the future, positioning Egypt as a regional hub for the automotive industry."
The summit is expected to feature high-profile participation from international and local figures, including leaders from EIM, General Motors, and Stellantis, who will share innovative insights into the future of the industry. Additionally, the event will spotlight success stories from countries like India, presenting it as an inspiring model for development.
More than just a forum to address pressing industrial issues, the summit serves as a collaborative space for stakeholders across sectors, including governments, corporations, manufacturers’ associations, and embassies, to foster cooperation and achieve transformative progress in Egypt's automotive landscape.
This highly anticipated event is poised to become a convergence point for forward-looking visions and strategic plans. It invites all those interested in the future of automobiles and clean energy to participate in shaping this pivotal moment.
