Revolution in the World of Yachts: Construction Begins on World's First Sport Catamaran in Collaboration with BMW
In a groundbreaking move, unprecedented in the history of luxury yacht manufacturing, Latitude Yachts has announced the commencement of construction on the 26.3-meter "Laniakea" project, known as the "world's first sport catamaran."
"Laniakea," the long-awaited yacht, represents a quantum leap in the world of catamarans with its unique sporty design that combines high performance and absolute luxury, marking the beginning of manufacturing an exceptional marine masterpiece that will revolutionize luxury sailing concepts.
At 26.3 meters and built with lightweight carbon fiber, this innovative yacht defies all traditional expectations. Thanks to an exceptional collaboration with automotive giant BMW, Laniakea delivers outstanding sporty performance reaching an impressive speed of 27 knots while maintaining the highest standards of luxury and comfort for its guests.
What distinguishes this ambitious project is not only being the first of its kind in the sport catamaran category but also its unique ability to navigate shallow waters thanks to its low draft of just 0.6 meters, opening new horizons for sailing in the world's most beautiful marine destinations.
Laniakea features a low-profile engineering design and lightweight carbon fiber construction, resulting in lower fuel consumption and larger interior volume. The naval architecture is credited to Dixon Yachts.
With the project's four outboard jet drives positioned externally, the yacht accommodates six guest suites and two crew cabins. The interior designs reveal a simple monochromatic aesthetic designed by Chulhun Park of Latitude Yachts - known for the 49.5-meter golden yacht Khalilah. Laniakea will also incorporate solar panels in the superstructure and "state-of-the-art smart technology" in navigation, entertainment, and climate control.
CEO Valdis Irbe said: "Laniakea represents a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and innovation. We are excited to deliver a vessel to our clients that not only exceeds performance expectations but redefines luxury on the open seas."
The propulsion system, designed in collaboration with BMW, gives the yacht a maximum speed of 27 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. The low draft of 0.6 meters will allow Laniakea to navigate shallow bays and anchorages, such as in the Bahamas and Caribbean.
It's worth noting that Latitude Yachts is known for its 53.3-meter trimaran "Galaxy of Happiness."
