BMW has officially expanded its next-generation electric mobility lineup with the global debut of the all-new iX4.
Representing the latest iteration of the brand's transformative "Neue Klasse" philosophy, the iX4 seamlessly combines the athletic silhouette of a Coupe-SUV with state-of-the-art electric drive technology.
Designed as the all-electric successor to the internal combustion X4, the iX4 utilizes a dedicated electric architecture.
By pairing high-efficiency aerodynamics with extended driving range and ultra-fast charging capabilities, BMW sets a new benchmark in the premium mid-size EV crossover segment.
Scheduled to hit global markets starting in March 2027, the BMW iX4 lineup features three distinct variants, each equipped with BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system powered by dual electric motors:
Underpinning the iX4 is BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, featuring newly developed cylindrical battery cells that offer significantly higher energy density. A major technological leap for the model is its 800-volt electrical system.
This architecture enables ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 400 kW. Under optimal charging conditions and using a compatible high-power charger, the iX4 can replenish up to 387 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The iX4 adopts the fresh design language introduced by the Neue Klasse family. Up front, the iconic BMW kidney grille visually merges with the LED headlights, creating a wide, modern aesthetic.
The sweeping, raked roofline gives the vehicle a fastback-inspired profile while minimizing drag. Key exterior features include clean body lines, flush-fitting door handles, a sporty integrated rear spoiler, and a large panoramic glass roof that opens up the interior cabin environment.
Inside, the iX4 showcases BMW’s latest digital cockpit innovation, driven by BMW Operating System X and the BMW Panoramic iDrive interface:
The high-performance M60 xDrive model adds bespoke hardware, including Adaptive M Suspension, variable-ratio M Sport Steering, and an electronically controlled M Sport rear differential lock for enhanced cornering traction.
The iX4 is equipped with BMW's suite of active driver support tools, including the upgraded "Motorway Assistant".
This system allows hands-free driving on designated highways at speeds up to 130 km/h where regulatory frameworks permit, supporting automated lane changes and maintaining speed and distance autonomously.
The BMW iX4 demonstrates the full potential of the Neue Klasse platform in a dynamic Coupe-SUV package. Offering an unmatched range of up to 828 km, 400 kW charging capabilities, and up to 612 horsepower in M60 trim, the iX4 sets a high benchmark for performance, efficiency, and digital innovation in the luxury electric vehicle market.
