Deepal is strengthening its position in Egypt’s growing electrified vehicle market after taking the top spot in range-extended electric vehicle, or REEV, sales during August 2026. The brand also maintained its cumulative lead in the segment from the beginning of the year, highlighting the growing interest in vehicles that combine electric driving with an extended operating range.
According to the latest vehicle sales data issued by Egypt’s Compulsory Motor Insurance Fund and published by Al-Ahram newspaper, Deepal recorded sales of 250 vehicles in August, ranking first among REEV brands in the Egyptian market. The company’s cumulative sales reached 1,135 units from the beginning of 2026 through August, allowing it to maintain its leading position in the range-extended electric vehicle segment.
Deepal’s August performance reflects the continued momentum generated by several models within its Egyptian lineup, particularly vehicles equipped with range-extended electric powertrains.
The Deepal G318 was the brand’s strongest performer during the month, recording 131 units and taking first place in the REEV segment for August.
The G318 represents one of Deepal’s key models in Egypt, combining an SUV body with an electrified powertrain designed to offer electric driving while providing additional range for longer journeys.
According to the published data, the G318 delivers up to 316 kW of power and has a claimed electric range of up to 963 kilometers under the NEDC standard. This positioning allows the model to target customers looking for the benefits of electric mobility without giving up the flexibility required for extended trips.
The G318 was not the only Deepal model to deliver a strong result in August. The Deepal S05 recorded 95 units, placing third in the REEV segment during the month.
The S05 occupies a different position within the Deepal lineup, as it is a compact crossover SUV available in both battery-electric and range-extended configurations in several markets.
Its REEV version relies primarily on an electric motor to drive the vehicle, while a gasoline engine can operate as a generator to supply energy to the battery when additional range is required. This approach combines the driving characteristics of an electric vehicle with greater flexibility for longer journeys.
The availability of different models and powertrain configurations gives Deepal greater flexibility in addressing various customer preferences in Egypt, particularly as consumers increasingly consider electrified vehicles while remaining concerned about charging infrastructure and long-distance travel.
Deepal’s August result becomes more significant when viewed against its cumulative performance during 2026.
The brand recorded total sales of 1,135 vehicles from the beginning of the year through August, according to the published figures, maintaining its first-place position in Egypt’s REEV market.
The result indicates that range-extended electric vehicles are gaining greater visibility in Egypt’s new-car market. The technology offers an alternative between fully electric vehicles and conventional internal-combustion models.
REEV systems generally use an electric motor as the primary source of propulsion, while a gasoline engine can serve as a generator to provide additional electrical energy when needed. This configuration allows drivers to benefit from electric propulsion while retaining an additional energy source for longer journeys.
For markets where charging infrastructure is still developing, this combination can be particularly attractive to customers who want to transition toward electric mobility without relying entirely on public charging networks.
Deepal’s sales performance comes alongside pricing moves by GB Auto, the brand’s exclusive representative in Egypt, aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of its models.
According to the published report, the current listed price of the Deepal S05 starts at approximately EGP 1.599 million, while the G318 is priced at around EGP 2.050 million. Pricing has become a major factor in Egypt’s electric vehicle market, particularly as more Chinese automotive brands introduce electric and electrified models.
More competitive pricing can help manufacturers reach a wider customer base, particularly in a market where buyers pay close attention not only to the initial purchase price but also to running costs, maintenance, resale value and the availability of spare parts.
Deepal is also working to broaden the range of options available to Egyptian customers. The company has introduced a new green exterior color for the G318, adding another customization choice for buyers.
The current Deepal lineup in Egypt includes the G318, S07 and S05, with both REEV and battery-electric technologies represented across the range. This gives the brand an opportunity to compete across multiple segments of Egypt’s rapidly evolving electrified vehicle market.
The company is also preparing to expand its lineup with additional models in the coming period, as Deepal continues its international expansion beyond its home market.
The strategy comes as range-extended electric powertrains are gaining attention globally, particularly in markets where charging infrastructure is still developing and consumers remain concerned about driving range.
Beyond vehicle sales, GB Auto is preparing to strengthen Deepal’s after-sales infrastructure in Egypt with a new 3S facility on the Ring Road in New Cairo.
A 3S facility typically combines vehicle sales, maintenance services and spare-parts operations under one roof. Such facilities can play an important role for relatively new automotive brands, as purchasing decisions increasingly depend not only on price and specifications but also on after-sales support.
Expanding service coverage could help Deepal strengthen customer confidence as the number of electrified vehicles on Egyptian roads continues to increase.
Deepal’s rise in the REEV segment comes as competition across Egypt’s electric vehicle market becomes increasingly diverse, with more brands entering the sector and offering different approaches to electrification.
For Egyptian consumers, the decision is no longer based solely on vehicle price or dimensions. Buyers are increasingly comparing electric range, charging time, fuel consumption, charging availability, warranty coverage, maintenance costs and expected resale value.
In this environment, REEV technology offers an alternative for consumers interested in electric driving but unwilling to depend entirely on the current charging infrastructure, particularly for long-distance travel.
Deepal benefits from having several models covering different segments, from the compact S05 to the larger G318, allowing the brand to address a broader range of customer requirements.
August sales and the cumulative figures for 2026 underline Deepal’s growing position in Egypt’s range-extended electric vehicle market. With 250 units sold during August and cumulative sales reaching 1,135 vehicles during the year, the brand has maintained its leadership in the REEV segment.
The next stage will be to determine whether Deepal can turn its current sales advantage into a sustainable market position as competition increases. The brand’s expanding lineup, more competitive pricing strategy and planned investment in sales and after-sales facilities could play an important role in that process.
As more electrified models enter Egypt, the ability to combine competitive pricing with technology, driving range and reliable after-sales support is likely to become increasingly important in purchasing decisions. For Deepal, its current leadership in the REEV segment therefore represents not only a strong sales result, but also a potential foundation for further expansion in Egypt’s evolving electric vehicle market.
