DFSK Expands Its Presence in Egypt

The Egyptian automotive market has been witnessing significant changes in its competitive landscape, particularly with the growing presence of Chinese automotive brands and increasing demand for SUVs and electrified powertrains. Against this backdrop, DFSK is strengthening its position in Egypt through a range of crossover models that combine modern styling, practical dimensions, technology and competitive performance.

DFSK was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Dongfeng and Sokon and is now part of the SERES Group. In Egypt, the brand is currently represented by Al Tarek Automotive, with a local lineup that includes three main models: the DFSK E5 Plus, DFSK E5 and DFSK 600. 

The current lineup also marks a shift from some of the brand’s earlier offerings. Previous models such as the Eagle Pro and Eagle 580 are no longer listed among DFSK’s currently available models in the Egyptian market. 

The DFSK E5 Plus sits at the top of the brand’s current Egyptian range in terms of power and positioning. Classified as a midsize crossover, the model is offered in a single configuration at approximately EGP 1.475 million, according to the latest published price information.

The E5 Plus combines a 1.5-liter engine with a 25.3 kWh battery, producing a claimed total output of 230 hp and maximum torque of 330 Nm.

The powertrain gives the crossover relatively strong performance for a family-oriented vehicle. According to the published specifications, the E5 Plus can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in approximately 7.8 seconds.

The vehicle also offers a claimed total range of around 1,250 kilometers, while its published average fuel consumption stands at approximately 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers. 

The E5 Plus uses front-wheel drive, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear suspension. This setup is designed to provide a balance between ride comfort, stability and everyday practicality.

Family-Oriented Dimensions

The DFSK E5 Plus has dimensions that place it firmly within the midsize crossover segment. It measures 4.76 meters in length, 1.865 meters in width and 1.71 meters in height, while its wheelbase stretches to 2.785 meters.

These dimensions provide the vehicle with a practical footprint for family use and everyday driving. Ground clearance stands at approximately 18 centimeters, while the fuel tank has a capacity of 60 liters.

The combination of its dimensions, fuel capacity and electrified powertrain makes the E5 Plus particularly suitable for buyers looking for a crossover capable of handling both urban commuting and longer journeys.

Technology and Safety Equipment

DFSK has also equipped the E5 Plus with a range of technologies aimed at improving safety and convenience.

The vehicle comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning systems. A 360-degree camera system is also available to assist drivers during parking and maneuvering.

Additional equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch wheels, a 12.3-inch central display and a digital instrument cluster. These features position the E5 Plus as a technology-focused offering within the Chinese crossover segment. 

Another important factor for Egyptian consumers is the vehicle’s published warranty coverage of seven years or 150,000 kilometers, which could play a role in strengthening buyer confidence as competition among Chinese brands continues to intensify. 

DFSK E5 Targets a Wider Customer Base

The DFSK E5 provides a more affordable entry point into the brand’s electrified crossover range. Its listed price starts at approximately EGP 1.255 million, making it the least expensive model currently offered by DFSK in Egypt.

The vehicle uses a 1.5-liter engine combined with a 17.52 kWh battery, producing a claimed 174 hp and 300 Nm of torque.

The published specifications indicate a total range of around 1,150 kilometers, while the vehicle uses front-wheel drive with MacPherson front suspension and a torsion-beam rear setup. 

The E5 is also equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera system, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch wheels and a 12.3-inch central display. The model also benefits from a range of driver-assistance and safety technologies. 

With its lower price compared with the E5 Plus, the E5 gives DFSK access to buyers looking for an electrified crossover without moving into the higher price range of the lineup.

DFSK 600 Offers a Traditional Turbocharged Option

For customers who prefer a conventional gasoline powertrain, DFSK offers the DFSK 600.

The crossover is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 181 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. 

The model has a 58-liter fuel tank and a published average fuel consumption figure of approximately 8.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

In terms of dimensions, the DFSK 600 measures 4.72 meters in length, 1.865 meters in width and 1.71 meters in height, with a 2.785-meter wheelbase. Ground clearance reaches 20 centimeters. 

The equipment list includes six airbags, electronic stability control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, a 360-degree camera system, a sunroof, cruise control, 18-inch wheels and a 12.3-inch infotainment display.

The model is listed at approximately EGP 1.365 million for its available configuration. 

DFSK Price Range in Egypt

The current DFSK lineup creates a relatively clear price ladder in the Egyptian market.

The DFSK E5 starts at approximately EGP 1.255 million, followed by the DFSK 600 at around EGP 1.365 million, while the DFSK E5 Plus reaches approximately EGP 1.475 million. 

This pricing structure allows DFSK to target different customer groups within the crossover segment, from buyers seeking a more accessible electrified vehicle to customers looking for higher power and equipment levels.

The strategy also reflects broader changes in the Egyptian automotive market, where consumers are increasingly considering Chinese vehicles because of their combination of technology, equipment and pricing.

Competition Goes Beyond Specifications

Despite the rapid development of Chinese vehicles, competition in Egypt has become increasingly intense. New brands and models continue to enter the market, while hybrid and electric vehicles are gaining greater visibility.

For DFSK, therefore, competing on specifications and price alone may not be enough. After-sales service, spare-parts availability, service-center coverage and resale value are likely to remain important factors in shaping customer perceptions.

This becomes particularly relevant for electrified vehicles, where consumers may place greater emphasis on technical support, battery-related services and long-term ownership costs.

DFSK currently offers a more diversified product strategy in Egypt, combining conventional turbocharged vehicles with electrified crossover models.

The E5 Plus represents the flagship of the current range, offering the highest output and the most advanced positioning. The E5 provides a more accessible entry point into DFSK’s electrified lineup, while the DFSK 600 continues to serve buyers who prefer a conventional turbocharged gasoline engine.
