Refreshed Mazda 3 and CX-30 Debut in Japan with Mild-Hybrid Powertrains

Japanese automaker Mazda has officially revealed the first images and technical details for the updated 2026 Mazda 3 and CX-30 crossover in their home market of Japan. 

This mid-cycle update focuses heavily on mechanical efficiency and safety enhancements. By integrating mild-hybrid powertrain technology and upgrading driver-assistance systems borrowed from larger flagship models, Mazda reinforces the competitive edge of both models while introducing subtle interior and exterior refinements.

New 2.5-Liter Engine with 24V Mild-Hybrid System

Mazda has expanded the powertrain lineup for both models by introducing a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from the "e-Skyactiv G" family, paired with a 24V M Hybrid mild-hybrid system previously featured in the updated CX-5. 

This setup delivers a combined output of 177 hp and 238 Nm of torque. Mechanical upgrades also include an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) replacing the conventional alternator and starter motor, enabling smoother re-starts for the "i-Stop" automatic engine stop-start system and powering auxiliary electronics. 

Existing 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engine options remain available alongside the new hybrid setup.

Advanced Safety Matrix and ADAS Enhancements

The Mazda 3 and CX-30 benefit from a comprehensive suite of active safety upgrades designed to improve occupant and pedestrian protection. 

Key additions include a Safe Exit Warning linked to the Blind Spot Monitoring system, Speed Limit Sign Recognition integrated with cruise control, and Emergency Lane Keeping Assist. 

Furthermore, the Autonomous Emergency Braking system now incorporates oncoming vehicle collision mitigation, intersection conflict avoidance, turning collision avoidance, and moving object detection, complemented by upgraded Adaptive LED Headlights.

Styling Revisions and Interior Amenities

Exterior visual updates are refined, featuring new metallic paint options including Aero Gray Metallic and Green Metallic, paired with a 360-degree surround-view camera system to simplify parking maneuvers. 

Inside the cabin, Mazda has integrated LED reading lights across all trims to enhance nighttime ambiance and cabin luxury for passengers.

The updated models are offered in the Japanese domestic market across structured pricing levels based on body style and trim, with approximate currency conversions as follows:

• Mazda 3 Hatchback ranges from 2365000 JPY to 4092000 JPY (approximately 742000 EGP to 1284000 EGP).
• Mazda 3 Sedan ranges from 2750000 JPY to 3267000 JPY (approximately 806000 EGP to 1025000 EGP).
• Mazda CX-30 ranges from 2640000 JPY to 3756500 JPY (approximately 828000 EGP to 1178000 EGP).
