Exeed: A New Milestone for Luxury Car Manufacturing in Egypt

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Egypt’s industrial sector, the country recently witnessed a significant event in the automotive industry: the launch of the Exeed car, a luxury vehicle produced locally in collaboration with the global Chery Group.

This launch marks a crucial step toward realizing Egypt’s vision of becoming a regional hub for car manufacturing, thanks to the leadership’s directives and the Egyptian government’s support for localizing this vital industry.

Exeed Launch: A Key Event in Egypt’s Automotive Industry

Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, attended the launch of the Exeed car at the Egyptian German Automotive Company (EGA) factory in the 6th of October City. The event was also attended by prominent figures in the automotive industry, including Engineer Karim Sami Saad, Chairman of the National Automotive Company, Yasser Saleh, CEO of the National Automotive Company, and Engineer Hanan Shaheen, Head of Operations at the Egyptian German Automotive Company.

The launch of this locally produced luxury car is a significant step in the ongoing efforts to boost Egypt’s automotive industry, especially in light of the government’s plans to increase the percentage of locally sourced components in vehicles manufactured within the country. Minister El-Wazir emphasized that this launch aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to transform Egypt into a regional industrial hub, with the automotive sector being a key pillar in achieving this goal.

Inspecting Production Lines: A Testament to Quality and Efficiency

During his visit to the Egyptian German Automotive Company’s factory, the minister inspected various production lines, including the complete assembly line for the Exeed car, as well as the assembly line for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The tour also included the paint lines and final testing areas, where cars undergo rigorous inspections before being delivered to customers, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

The minister praised the advancements in production processes, noting that these efforts reflect Egypt’s ability to manufacture luxury cars with global specifications that meet local market demands and compete in regional and international markets. He also pointed out that this step is part of the government’s strategy to boost local production and increase the percentage of locally sourced components in cars made in Egypt.

The Importance of Localizing Car Manufacturing in Egypt

The automotive industry is one of the most strategic sectors contributing to the national economy, as it paves the way for the establishment of supporting industries that provide thousands of job opportunities and bolster the local economy. The minister stressed that the Egyptian government is highly committed to localizing car manufacturing in Egypt by offering the necessary facilities to local factories and supporting them in increasing the percentage of locally sourced components in vehicles.

He also highlighted that the Egyptian market is currently witnessing a significant variety of locally manufactured cars, with Egypt collaborating with several global companies such as Nissan and General Motors, in addition to Al Nasr Automotive Company, which has achieved over 50% local component content in its vehicles. The minister further noted that the Egyptian German Automotive Company produces 1,200 Mercedes-Benz cars and 3,000 Exeed cars annually, with plans to increase these numbers in the near future.

Job Creation and Opening New Markets

In addition to enhancing local production, the automotive industry in Egypt plays a crucial role in providing numerous job opportunities for young people, helping to reduce unemployment rates and strengthen the national economy. The minister pointed out that the Egyptian German Automotive Company’s factory offers many job opportunities for young Egyptians, with plans to increase production and open new markets in the Arab region.

The minister also emphasized that the company aims to increase the percentage of locally sourced components in its cars, including upholstery, glass, and seats, all produced to high-quality standards that meet global specifications. He added that the company is working to open new markets for its vehicles, particularly in Arab countries, further positioning Egypt as a car-exporting nation.

Partnership with Chery Group: A Strategic Collaboration for a Promising Future

Yasser Saleh, CEO of the Egyptian German Automotive Company, expressed his delight at the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and the Minister of Industry and Transport to the factory. He confirmed that the strategic partnership with Chery Group to produce Exeed luxury cars in Egypt is an extension of the National Automotive Company’s (NATCO) vision to localize car manufacturing in Egypt.

Saleh noted that this partnership has a promising future in the Egyptian market, as the company possesses significant capabilities that enable it to produce luxury cars that meet global standards. He also emphasized the company’s commitment to developing this industry and increasing the percentage of locally sourced components, contributing to Egypt’s position as an important and distinguished hub for high-quality car manufacturing.

Future Plans for Expansion and Increased Production

As part of its future plans, the Egyptian German Automotive Company aims to increase its production of Exeed and Mercedes-Benz cars, with a focus on opening new markets in the Arab region. The company is also working to increase the percentage of locally sourced components in its vehicles by collaborating with local factories to supply high-quality parts that meet global standards.

Saleh mentioned that the company has already started producing two models, the RX and VX, to meet the diverse needs of customers, with plans to produce more cars in the future. He also reiterated the company’s commitment to developing this industry in line with Egypt’s vision to localize car manufacturing and boost local production.

Conclusion: A Step Toward the Future

The launch of the locally produced Exeed car marks a significant step toward realizing Egypt’s vision of becoming a regional hub for car manufacturing. Thanks to strategic partnerships with global companies like Chery Group and the Egyptian government’s directives to enhance local production and increase the percentage of locally sourced components, Egypt continues to strengthen its position in the automotive sector. With these ongoing efforts, Egypt is expected to witness substantial growth in this industry, contributing to the national economy, increasing exports, and opening new markets.
